Je ne suis pas encore sorti de ma googlemania actuelle. Je suis en train d'écouter un podcast de Dave Girouard,de Google Enterprise.

Question du rédacteur en chef de Eweek : "there is an email product from Google but not quite making a presence in the enterprise yet, is that the next step ?"

Réponse : "it is...". Ils (Google) sont en train de tester ça avec quelques petites entreprises et universités. Quelques phrases plus loin il nomme également le calendar et google spreadsheet. Croyez moi, quand tout ça va arriver dans les entreprises ça va donner un coup de fraîcheur bien appréciable.

Enderle said the data center sits on a 30-acre site with options for future expansion and should be able to handle over 20 million users, perhaps a lot more.

"It could become the hosting home for a set of applications that currently do not exist and an expansion point for some, like their video stuff, that are currently just getting started," he said. "It is expected to be cutting-edge and was supposed to go live in 2007. But given the ‘cutting-edge' part, it has significant risk of slipping that time frame.

"In short, it will be one of the most powerful data centers on the planet and may move the consumer market aggressively to a software-as-a-service model -- with advertising funding changing dramatically the technology market as we know it," Enderle said.

Pour rappel : google mini est un matériel peu couteux (quelques milliers d'euros) installé sur un intranet et qui permet d'avoir la puissance et l'ergonomie de google au sein de l'intranet d'entreprise. Les commentaires des clients sont élogieux.
